Planned Service Interruptions

Please note that from Sunday, February 25, 12:01 a.m. to 6:00 a.m., the application page will be unavailable due to planned IT service interruptions.  The application page will be available again on or after Sunday, February 25, 6:00 a.m.  If you have any pending applications, please save or submit the application before the scheduled maintenance to prevent loss of data.

Please follow all instructions on the application, and submit the filing fee and all required transcripts and testing scores to the appropriate departments as noted on the application. Incomplete applications will not be reviewed by the department.

Spring 2019
Cohort applications due
20 June 1, 2018

Applications for Cohort 20 will be available on April 1, 2018 and the deadline to apply is June 1, 2018.  The program classes begin the following year at the start of the Spring semester in January 2019.

Application Process

STEP 1 Completing the online application (will be available April 1, 2018) completes the requirement for both the University application and the CDS department application. You do not need to submit a separate application through Cal State Apply.

STEP 2 In order to submit your online application, you will be required to pay a $55 non-refundable application fee via debit/credit card.

On page 8 of the online application, you will download the following documents:

  • Statement of Intent
  • Letter of Recommendation Form

You must complete, and then attach the following documents to the online application. Online applications submitted without these completed attachments will not be considered:

  • Unofficial Transcripts/academic records from any/all academic institutions you have attended in the past
  • Unofficial GRE or MAT scores
  • Statement of Intent
  • UDWPE Test Results (if graduated from a CSU campus)
  • Résumé
STEP 3

Submit 3 completed Recommendation Forms via mail (may also be mailed directly by the recommender) to:

All items must be received at CSUN by the application deadline date. No exceptions will be made.

STEP 4 Submit the following via regular mail to the address below:
  • Original/Sealed Official Transcripts from any/all academic institutions you have attended in the past. This includes community colleges and institutions where you completed post-baccalaureate work. Do not open transcripts before forwarding them to CSUN.
  • Official GRE or MAT scores

Again, all items must be received at CSUN by the application deadline date. No exceptions will be made.
Send items to the exact addresses listed above. Using other CSUN addresses will result in your application not being received at the correct location and can delay the application process thus omitting your application from the pool of complete, on-time applications.
