The Advancing Student Achievement Program (ASAP) serves former CSUN students in the following categories:
CSUN Graduates
If you are a recent graduate or alumni of CSUN, you are eligible to enroll in courses through ASAP.
Academically Disqualified CSUN Students
If you are currently on academic disqualification, you are eligible to enroll in classes through ASAP to meet academic requirements and possibly apply for readmission.
CSUN Students who left CSUN in Good Standing
If you are a former CSUN students waiting for re-enrollment to CSUN, you can begin taking classes towards your degree while awaiting for a final readmission decision.
Important:
- CSUN students who are currently admitted and enrolled in a degree or certificate program are not eligible to enroll in courses through ASAP.
- Only those who are not currently admitted and enrolled in a degree or certificate program at CSUN, are eligible.
- The ASAP program cannot serve disqualified CSUN international students who require an I-20 to reenter or remain in the U.S.
How to Get Started
Former CSUN Students will not need to create a new account. To enroll, you will log into myNorthridge Portal, and use your CSUN user ID and password. If you need help accessing your account, please contact CSUN IT for assistance.
For CSUN students who have stopped attending or have been disqualified:
If you haven't done so already, make an appointment with your academic advisor and discuss which courses to take.
After meeting with your advisor, email asap@csun.edu to submit your course request for the Fall 2023 semester. You will not be able to submit course requests unless you have met with an advisor.
Your course request will be sent to the Associate Dean for review. If approved, a permission number will be emailed to you for enrollment. All ASAP students are required to obtain and use a permission number to enroll themselves in any course.
For CSUN alum:
A permission number is required for enrollment. To request a permission number, please complete the course request form (currently unavailable, please check back later).
Your request will be reviewed by the Associate Dean and if approved, a permission number will be emailed to you, along with steps on how to enroll.
Timeline for Request Review Process
The Associate Dean will begin reviewing course requests closer to the start of classes in August. Enrollment officially begins on August 28, 2023.
Once a decision has been made regarding your course request, you will receive a notification via email to your CSUN Email account. Please make sure you check this account regularly. We will continually revisit requests provide regular reminders for any outstanding requests. Please do not contact the department directly, but rather contact asap@csun.edu for an update.

Enrollment Requirements
Maximum Unit Load:
- Undergraduate Students: 13 units
- Graduate Students: 19 units
Students in good standing may request additional units over the Fall and Spring maximum unit load, by completing the Extra Unit Authorization form.
However, this form is strictly limited at this time, and will only be processed when Nonrestrictive Registration begins (see Registration Calendar).
Wait List
The CSUN wait list feature is not available for ASAP students. If an instructor encourages you to add yourself to the wait list for a closed course, remind them this feature is only designed for current CSUN students.
