Computed Tomography (CT) obtains images of internal body from different angles and processes these images electronically in order to show cross-section views of tissues and organs. As one of the two most widely used diagnostic and surgical-support imaging technologies, CT has become increasingly advanced in its speed (as measured by the number of images per second that can be generated), sensitivity, and image quality.

This program provides working radiologic technologists with the training they need to perform advanced CT scans. Those who successfully complete this program will

  • Earn 39 Category A ECE credit from the American Society of Radiologic Technologists upon earning a passing grade of 75% on the final exam for XRAD 901 (Pending ASRT approval).
  • Earn 21 Category A ECE credit from the American Society of Radiologic Technologists upon earning a passing grade of 75% on the final exam for XRAD 903 (Pending ASRT approval).
  • Earn the CSUN certificate of Advanced Professional Development in Computed Tomography together with 43 continuing education units (CEUs), which will be recorded on their CSUN transcripts.
  • May be qualified to take and pass the advanced certification examination offered by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT).

Offered in collaboration with CSUN’s College of Health & Human Development, this Advanced Professional Development certificate program consists of four courses – three online and one in a clinical setting – and takes only one year to complete.*

The online courses focus on theory and can be completed at the student’s home or workplace.  The clinical education component consists of 355 hours of educational experience in qualified clinical or hospital settings.

Applicants must show proof of successful completion of College Algebra (or equivalency) or a higher level of math preferably within the past 5 years from a regionally-accredited institution. (College Algebra at CSUN = MATH 102.)

 

 


 

*Taken concurrently with CSUN’s Advanced Professional Development certificate in Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI), students will complete both certificates in one year. Earning the two certificates separately takes approximately two years.
