The Oviatt Library has a collection of 1.36 million volumes and more than 248,000 bound periodical volumes. The library's extensive digital collection includes electronic periodicals, books, encyclopedias and hundreds of reference databases.

To receive library privileges present a photo ID (e.g., driver's license), your proof of Tseng College class registration, and $5 at the library circulation desk, or at University Cash Services, Bayramian Hall Lobby.

  1. Any currently enrolled Tseng College student, regardless of program type (see Item 2 below regarding distance learners)*, will receive the following Oviatt Library services:
    • CSUN Library book checkout privileges (16 weeks per item)
    • Remote access to online resources from the Oviatt Library website with current CSUN user ID and password
    • Interlibrary Loan (ILL) service for any returnable (i.e. books) and non-returnable items (i.e. articles) borrowed on their behalf from other libraries, or self-requested via the CSU+ service in OneSearch
    • All other library services offered to students

     
    *Excludes students enrolled in short-term workshops and seminars

  2. Distance learners will receive the following Oviatt Library services:
    • CSUN Library book checkout privileges (16 weeks per item) via mail
      • Procedures:
        • Distance learners fill out an ILL request form ILL request form for the needed book and identify themselves as distance learners by entering “DE [program name] student cohort [number]” in the notes field of the form. The book is then mailed to the student and a postage paid envelope is provided for the student to return the book to CSUN.
        • Distance learners using OneSearch request an item from another CSU library and identify themselves as distance learners by entering “DE [program name] student cohort [number]” in the comments field. The book is then mailed to the student and a postage paid envelope is provided for the student to return the book to CSUN.
    • Remote access to online resources from the Oviatt Library website with current CSUN user ID and password
    • Interlibrary loan service for any non-returnable items (i.e. articles) borrowed on their behalf from other libraries outside the CSU system
    • All other library services offered to students
