Through the Intensive English Program's Conditional Admission plan, students can be pre-approved for admission to an undergraduate- or graduate-degree program of their choice – at CSUN or a partnering institution* – even if they have not yet met the English-language proficiency requirements for admission to these institutions.
For questions about IEP admissions, please contact us.
Please carefully review visa requirements and related information before applying.
The following are CSUN's English-language proficiency admission requirements as measured by the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) and the International English Language Testing System (IELTS).
|Paper-Based Test (PBT)||Computer-Based Test (CBT)||Internet-Based Test (iBT)|
For more information about TOEFL waivers, contact the IEP Academics Office at (818) 677-2504 or firstname.lastname@example.org.
Waivers of the TOEFL requirement are available to both undergraduate and graduate students as follows:
Undergraduate students who have Conditional Admission "Pre-Approved" status, have completed University Bridge A in all classes, and have met all other requirements with a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 are eligible to enter an approved undergraduate degree program at CSUN – or at a partnering institution – without taking the TOEFL.
Graduate students who have Conditional Admission "Pre-Approved" status, have completed University Bridge B in all classes, and have met all other requirements with a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 are eligible to enter an approved graduate degree program at CSUN – or at a partnering institution – without taking the TOEFL.
For a complete, degree-specific list of required documents, visit the CSUN Catalog.
Note: Even after a semester's admissions cycle has closed, some majors may still be accepting students. Look for these exceptions in the Admissions Calendar.
IEUP CSUN Housing offers convenient, apartment-style accommodations that provide visiting students with the opportunity to live in the same on-campus community with regular university students. Students in on-campus housing become familiar with the campus more quickly, meet other students more easily and take part in the many social and recreational activities organized by both IEUP Housing and CSUN housing.
*Current partnering institutions are California Lutheran University, Glendale Community College, and Pierce College (PDF). For more details about applying to partnering institutions, visit our Apply page here.
