Application Instructions

Submit online:

Online application (online application will be available September 15, 2014), including a statement (approximately two pages, maximum 1000 words, double-spaced, with 12 point font) describing why you are interested in this master's program in Behavioral Clinical Psychology and how enrollment in the program will contribute to your professional and personal growth and success.

In addition, the materials listed below will be required as part of your application. You will be given an opportunity to access, complete, and upload the following required documents as part of your online application:

  1. Cohort Acknowledgement Form
  2. Relevant Coursework Form
  3. Recommenders' Names List
  4. Resume

Note that the online application used for the BCP program is a general application used by all programs in the Tseng College. Some of the questions on the application may not be directly applicable to the BCP program (e.g., questions about transferrable undergraduate units; questions about family income; questions about having an RN license) but are questions required by the state or federal government. Answering these questions with a “Decline to State” response will not negatively impact your application to this program in any way.

Complete and submit the online Application as soon as possible. Doing so will assure that your application is included in the applicant pool and that Admissions is aware of your application and can track additional materials as they arrive.

Send these items in one package, directly to CSUN:

  • Original or certified copies of all official academic records/transcripts from all academic institutions you have attended in the past, not just from institutions at which you earned a degree. (If you attended CSUN you do not need to request CSUN transcripts; we will acquire your CSUN records for your application.)
    • Do not open the envelopes in which transcripts arrive; forward all sealed envelopes to CSUN.

All items must be received at CSUN by the application deadline date in order to be considered for review.

Send items to the exact address below. Using other CSUN addresses will result in your application not being received at the correct location and can delay the application process thus omitting your application from the pool of complete, on-time applications.

* All applicants with a cumulative undergraduate GPA less than 3.00 are required to submit GRE General Exam scores to CSUN in order to be reviewed as an applicant for this program.

An official copy of your GRE scores must be sent directly to CSUN electronically from ETS. CSUN’s school code for receipt of electronic GRE scores is: 4707.

Note that GRE scores must be submitted at the time of application.

Arrange for three recent letters of recommendation (preferrably from those who can comment on your clinical/behavioral work or related coursework) plus a required waiver form (below) to be sent on your behalf to the BCP Academic Faculty Committee as directed below.

Provide this Waive Access form to each of your recommenders to include with their letters of recommendation. This form must accompany all letters of recommendation. Be sure you fully complete and sign your Waiver form before you send it to your recommenders. Each recommender is to sign the Waiver form before sending his/her letter of recommendation in to CSUN.

Tip: To assure your letters of recommendation are delivered to the correct office, provide a pre-addressed, stamped envelope to each of your recommenders, using the exact address listed below. (Copy and paste the mailing information below and use to pre-address your envelopes.)

All letters of recommendation must be received at CSUN by the application deadline date to be considered for review.

Recommenders should send letters with waivers directly to the address below. Using other CSUN addresses will result in your letters being misdirected and can delay full completion of your application, thus omitting your application from the pool of complete, on-time applications.
