While health care professionals address the needs of people at all stages of life and in a wide range of settings, the recent, dramatic growth of this field – which, according to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS), is generating more new jobs than any other and accounts for ten of the 20 fastest-growing professions – is largely in response to the rapid increase in the nation's elderly population.
CSUN, through the Tseng College has been addressing health care industry employment needs since the 2000 launch of its first fully online program, the Master of Science in Communication Disorders and Sciences (Speech-Language Pathology), which was developed in collaboration with CSUN's College of Health and Human Development. Since then, the two colleges have co-developed several new graduate-degree and certificate programs that provide advanced preparation for careers in the health care field.
Also, through its long-time association with CSUN's College of Social and Behavioral Sciences in developing and administering California's largest Master of Public Administration (MPA) program, the Tseng College has developed a number of certificate programs to address the nation's need for well-prepared professionals in the rapidly growing area of human services.
