(June 7, 2017) - The Tseng College welcomes Summer students from around the world! Visiting university students arrived this week for the Tseng College’s Intensive English Program (IEP). “They will get a good head start on their studies,” said Bessie Karras-Lazaris, IEP academic director. “We hope they enjoy their studies here and meet their goals very quickly.”
Classes will help get them ready to take academic-credit classes at CSUN or any English-speaking university. Students traveled from countries including China, India, Japan, Kuwait, Saudi Arabia and South Korea for the eight-week program. They’ll share the campus with more than 6,500 regular Summer Session students. Classes will buzz with active learning. Students will practice speaking and presentation, academic reading and writing, vocabulary, grammar and conversation.
But they won’t spend the summer just sitting in a classroom and studying. The Tseng College wants them to have fun and take a vacation, too! Field trips and traveling are a big part of the program. They’ll have the opportunity to see American culture first hand and practice their English away from a school setting. The adventure starts with a tour of Los Angeles hot spots, visits to downtown Santa Monica and Santa Monica Beach, exploring The Grove, shopping and taking pictures at Hollywood & Highland, and visiting famed tourist spots such as TCL Chinese Theatres.
Welcome to all!
