Temporary Disruption of Attendance Class attendance

If, for compelling reasons, a student finds it necessary to miss either a complete course or a significant number of class meetings, s/he must consult with the program's academic advisor as soon as the student is aware that class meetings or courses will be missed. The program requires that at a minimum students attend class meetings regularly. For classes that have eight sessions, students who miss two or more sessions would not be allowed to finish the class. For classes that have four sessions, students who miss one or more sessions normally would not be allowed to finish the class. Instead, students would normally have to make up the class the next time it is offered.

Withdrawal Policy

It is the responsibility of the student who is no longer attending classes to withdraw formally from courses and the degree program in keeping with CSUN and Tseng College policies. To formally withdraw from the program, students must notify the Tseng College program director in writing (email is preferred). If the written withdrawal request is received before the term begins (before day one of classes listed in a specific billing term), students will not be billed for the following term or terms. Please contact the Tseng College program director, Jennifer Kalfsbeek at (818) 677-5943 orjennifer.kalfsbeek@csun.ed for any question regarding withdrawal from the program.

Note: Simply not attending class, notifying the instructor of intent to drop the class, or calling a University office to express intent to withdraw does not constitute formal withdrawal.

Students who receive financial aid funds must consult with the Tseng College Financial Aid Counselor (Ms. LaJuan Steels at lajuan.r.steels@csun.edu or at (818) 677-7523) prior to withdrawing from the University regarding any required return or repayment of grant or loan assistance received for that academic term.

Important Note: Absence from class and/or stopping payment on a check or payment voucher does not constitute an official withdrawal – nor does notification to the instructor. Withdrawal must be made by contacting the program's academic advisor. Without a formal withdrawal, the student will be liable for fees and may earn a failing grade in the course. However, a formal withdrawal does not necessarily entitle the student to a tuition refund. Refunds are dependent upon the time in which the formal withdrawal is complete and the reason for the withdrawal. It is imperative, however, that a formal withdrawal is completed to protect the accuracy of the student's academic record.

Refund of Fees: Refunds are not provided to cohort students after the start of the first class of each term even if other classes in that term have not yet begun. Exceptions may be made for medical or other emergency situations. Contact the program director for further information.

Outstanding Debts: A student, who formally withdraws from the cohort and is in payment arrears or has any outstanding funds due to the University, will not receive a refund until all payments are made current.
