Identification numbers: Your identification numbers give you access to on-campus and online student services. These numbers are your CSUN student ID number, Personal Identification Number (PIN), and CSUN User ID and password.
Special note: If your CSUN Student ID number only has seven digits, add two zeroes to the front of the number (999-9999 becomes 009999999).
CSUN Student ID number: This number is used to identify your academic records and your current student status. Together with your PIN, the CSUN Student ID number allows you to establish a CSUN User ID and password, to enroll online, to view academic records and check your CSUN student account.
All students who have enrolled in the past for classes offered by the university or through The Tseng College have been issued a nine-digit CSUN Student ID number. New students enrolling for classes offered by the university or The Tseng College will be issued their CSUN Student ID number at the time of registration. Your CSUN ID number stays with you even if you stop attending, transfer or graduate. You can find this number on correspondence with the university, transcripts and enrollment summary documents.
If you are a student admitted to the university and you do not remember your CSUN Student ID number, visit the office of Admissions and Records (Bayramian Hall, first floor) or call (818) 677-3700, option 7. Your CSUN Student ID number will be mailed to the address of record that you reported to Admissions and Records.
If you are a student not admitted to the university and you do not remember your CSUN Student ID number, visit the Tseng College (Bookstore Complex, room 100) or call (818) 677-2504 to request an enrollment summary from the last semester attended. Your enrollment summary will be mailed to the address of record that you reported to the Tseng College.
PIN: Your four-digit Personal Identification Number (PIN) is a security number known to you and the computer, which, when used in conjunction with your CSUN Student ID number, provides online access to your enrollment file. A PIN is issued only to students who are admitted to the university, not those enrolling through the Tseng College.
If you lose or want to change your PIN, visit the office of Admissions and Records (Bayramian Hall, first floor) or call (818) 677-3700. Your PIN will be mailed to the address of record that you reported to Admissions and Records.
Photo ID: In addition to your Confirmation or Enrollment Summary and Cash Net Receipt, you will need a Campus Service Photo ID card if you do not already have one. Otherwise, many key services–such as the library, full use of the University Student Union, and the Student Health Center–will be unavailable to you.
To get a campus services photo ID, take your Confirmation or Enrollment Summary and Cash Net Receipt and another form of picture ID (passport, driver's license, DMV ID card) and $5 to university Cash Services at Bayramian Hall, main lobby. The hours are 8:30 a.m.-5 p.m. Monday and Thursday; 10 a.m.-7 p.m. Tuesday and Wednesday; and 8:30 a.m.-4 p.m. Friday. Photo lab staff will take your picture in the Student Services Building, Room 101, with a special camera that develops a picture ID card.
