<title>Dr. Karen Jones Howard Green Retires</title>
<description><![CDATA[After more than 40 years in the fields of speech pathology and education, Karen Green, Ed.D.,  has retired. Dr. Green has served as program coordinator for CSUN's innovative distance-education master's degree program in Speech-Language Pathology &ndash; offered by The Tseng College in collaboration with the Department of Communication Disorders and Sciences &ndash; since its inception in 1999. She has received many awards for her work, including CSUN's Don Dorsey Award for Mentoring Excellence and five Awards for Continuing Education from the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA). On behalf of The Tseng College and the graduates of the online CDS program, the <em>Insider</em> wishes Dr. Green a most fulfilling and productive retirement.]]></description>

<title>Campus and Tseng College Closures</title>

<description><![CDATA[Registration for <a href="http://tsengcollege.csun.edu/winter.html">Winter Term 2008</a> (Jan. 2-18) will be available online through the holidays and up to 11:59 p.m. on Jan. 2.  Because of the year-end holiday recess (see below),  in-person registration will not be available from 2 p.m., Dec. 21 through Jan. 1. It will be available from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Jan. 2.

<description><![CDATA[Are there things you don't know how to do on your computer? If you are a retired or semi-retired person, <a href="http://exlweb.csun.edu/sage/">The Sage Society</a>, CSUN's learning-in-retirement organization can help. The spring session of its popular six-week "Senior Computers" course starts on Jan. 4.  Now in its 17th year, the class meets on the CSUN campus from 10 a.m. to noon on Fridays. <title>In Memoriam: Jerry Bobrow</title>
<description><![CDATA[Jerry Bobrow, Ph.D., founder of a test-preparation company that serves CSUN and numerous other California State Universities, died in November at the age of 59 after a two-year battle with cancer.  Bobrow earned a master's degree in mathematics from CSUN and in 1973 founded Bobrow Test Preparation Services to help CSUN students prepare for college standardized tests.  He also developed test-preparation programs used statewide by school districts, offices of education and the California Teachers Association. Bobrow wrote numerous guides for test takers, including Barron's How to Prepare for the LSAT, and Cliff's Preparation Guides for the CBEST, GMAT, GRE and SAT. His <a href="http://tsengcollege.csun.edu/testprep.html">test-preparation programs</a>, administered through CSUN's Tseng College, have helped thousands of students learn both test-taking strategies and relevant subject matter.]]></description>

<description><![CDATA[The Educational Testing Service has certified The Tseng College as an Internet-based test (iBT) site for the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL). While certain test dates are reserved for students participating in the International English Program (IEP), any foreign student looking for a place to take the TOEFL can simply <a href="http://www.ets.org/toefl/schedule11.html">register online</a>, then come to The Tseng College computer lab (BK 104) on the test date selected.
