Withdrawal and Refunds

1. For Extended Learning / Noncredit courses, including test preparation and open-enrollment MPA classes

A full refund will be granted if the class is canceled. The fee will be refunded for withdrawal requests before the first class meeting.

  • For courses of four meetings or fewer, there is no refund beginning with the first class meeting.
  • For courses of five meetings or more, a 65 percent refund is available during the first 25 percent of instruction, but no refund is available after 25 percent of the class has been completed.

Your refund is based on the date you are actually dropped in SOLAR (CSUN's online registration system), not the date you stopped attending class.

The University reserves the right to make changes without notice. You may check for schedule changes by visiting The Tseng College Web site.

Your withdrawal notification can be made in person or by phone. (If you withdraw before the first class meeting, you may also make your notification online.) The amount of your refund is based on time of withdrawal. The time of withdrawal is determined by the date on which The Tseng College receives written or electronic notification of your withdrawal. Retroactive withdrawal is not permitted.

Students must officially drop from courses generating CEUs, even if they are not eligible for a refund. Non-attendance, notifying the instructor or stopping payment on your check or payment voucher do not constitute an official withdrawal. Not dropping a course that you fail to complete may have a negative impact on your grade point average.

Remember that your CSUN ID is used for all on-campus transactions. To access online services, you must have a CSUN User ID and password. Keep a record of both in a secure place for reference. See Registration Instructions.

Tseng College refunds will be applied to any Tseng College outstanding debts on your student account.

If the Tseng College refund amount results in a Tseng College credit to your CSUN account, you will be refunded automatically in four to six weeks.

  • Online payments by credit card will be credited back to the credit card.
  • Credit card and check payments made by mail or in person will be refunded by check from the university.
  • Cash payments are refunded by check.
  • Electronic checks paid online will be refunded as a check from the university.

Cancelled Classes: Every effort will be made to notify the student of a cancelled class. Fees paid may be applied to an alternate class, or a 100 percent refund will be issued. Please allow four to six weeks to receive a refund.

The Tseng College reserves the right to reschedule classes, if necessary.
