Registration Instructions: New Students

Online Registration Instructions for New Students

New students are students who have never enrolled at CSUN before. New students must create an account to access the online Solar registration system.

If any error messages appear during the steps below, please phone our Client Services at 818-677-2504 for assistance with registration. Hours.

  1. Go to the CSUN Home Page (link opens in new window).
  2. Click "Extended Learning Programs and Registration" at left.
  3. In the Extended Learning box, click the "Enrollment" link.
  4. Click on the "New Students" button in the middle of page.
  5. Fill out the "New Extension Student Application." An email address is required.
  6. Click on the "Continue" button. The system takes a few moments to create a new record for you.
  7. On "Create User Profile" screen, create your password, select a "Program to Enroll," choosing from:
    • College of Extended Learning - Graduate Credit
    • College of Extended Learning - Undergraduate Credit
    • College of Extended Learning - Non Credit
    Select "Term to Enroll," choose the appropriate term for your class and then "Submit."
  8. The "New Extension Student Application Completed" screen appears where your new User ID and Student ID are displayed.
  9. Print this page and write your password on it for future reference. This User ID and the password are used to enter the CSUN Portal for all online services and registration. Keep this information in a secure place and do not share it with anyone.
  10. Click the "Logout" link at the top right of the screen.

You are now considered a "returning student." To continue enrolling in a class, see our "Returning Student" instructions.
