Your questions are likely to be shared by others who are interested in the program. For your convenience, we have included answers to some of the most common questions here.

Q. How long does it take to go through the program?
A. Most students are able to complete the courses within one to two years.

Q. How long is the program?
A. This program involves the completion of seven required courses.

Q. How much does it cost?
A. Right now, individual courses are $180 – $380 per person. (Of course, fees are subject to change in the future). Additional expenses include parking fees and the cost of textbooks.

Q. When and where are the courses held?
A. Usually Monday and Wednesday evenings, with four courses meeting on Saturdays, on the CSUN campus.

Q. What are the benefits of completing the program?
A. The core courses fulfill the Office of Real Estate Appraisers (OREA) requirements for the initial examination for the "Trainee License," and are approved by the OREA for continuing education units.

Q. Can I take individual courses or do I need to take all seven?
A. You can take as many of the courses as you wish. Earn the certificate by completing all seven courses.

Q. Who are the instructors?
A. Andrew Nierenberg, M.S., is an OREA-certified general appraiser and an AQB*-certified Uniform Standards of Professional Appraisal Practice (USPAP) instructor. He specializes in eminent domain appraisal and is a qualified expert witness. Brian Seemann, B.F.A., is an OREA-licensed appraiser and owner of Equitable Appraisal Services, a Northridge-based company.

Q. Which course should I take first?
A. The first class should be Principles of Real Estate Appraisal.
