General CSUN Policies

See the legal notices section of the current CSUN Undergraduate / Graduate catalog and catalog supplement in the university's most recent Schedule of Classes for information policies regarding academic dishonesty, academic grievance procedures, alcohol and substance abuse, racial and sexual harassment, sexual assault, and additional information for items in this section.

Both the college and the university assume all students will comply with university policies and regulations. Inappropriate conduct by students or applicants for admission is subject to discipline as provided in Title 5, California Code of Regulations.

The University assumes all students will comply with University policies and regulations. Inappropriate conduct by students or applicants for admission is subject to discipline as provided in Title 5, California Code of Regulations. The University reserves the right to make changes without notice. Such changes include but are not limited to adding, canceling or combining classes or locations, or adjusting the format to meet a specific University need.

Additional Policies

Privacy

The full text of the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act of 1974 (20 USC 1232g) and related regulations, policies and procedures are available for inspection in the Office of the Vice President of Student Affairs, University Hall, Rm. 310.

The campus is authorized under the Act to release directory information about students unless the campus has received a prior written objection from the student specifying information not to be released. Questions regarding student prerogatives under the Act should be directed to the Office of the Vice President of Student Affairs, (818) 677-2391.

Nondiscrimination

The Tseng College and CSUN are committed to equal educational and employment opportunities and affirmative action in its personnel policies and practices, consistent with federal and state nondiscrimination and affirmative action legislation, regulations and executive orders. CSUN does not discriminate on the basis of age, color, disability, national origin, race, religion, sex, sexual orientation or veteran status as monitored by the Department of Labor Office of Federal Contract Compliance, and the Department of Education, or on the basis of handicap in violation of Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973 and the regulations adopted there under.

Debts & Payments

Debts owed the university

All or some of the following sanctions will be imposed on individuals who have failed to pay a debt owed the university or auxiliary organizations:

Policy on Prosecution for Dishonored Checks / Payments

It is the policy of California State University, Northridge to prosecute individuals for passing bad checks. All persons committing such acts are subject to prosecution by civil authorities under the California Penal Code. In addition to the penalties possible under the Penal Code, a student may be disciplined under Section 41301 of Title 5 and may be expelled, suspended, placed on probation, and/or have his/her records encumbered. Students failing to honor their payments are NOT disenrolled or otherwise relieved of their financial commitment.
