Winter Term 2004 Preview

Plan your winter break with Winter Term (Jan. 5 - 30) in mind. Move ahead in pursuit of your degree with University credit courses. During Winter Term, you can take credit courses without formally applying or being admitted to the University. These courses are offered in a variety of disciplines and are taught primarily by University faculty.  

Selected noncredit courses area also available during Winter Term.

The Winter Term 2004 credit catalog will be available on campus Nov. 17. Registration for University credit courses begins Dec. 1. The Winter

NEW! American Indian and Cross-Cultural Issues (Language and Cultural Studies)

Explore the cross-cultural sensitivity issues involved in working with Native American clients in alcohol and drug-counseling, HIV and health services, social services, education, law enforcement and corrections environments. Read more

Date: 6 meetings, Saturdays, Jan. 3, 10, 17 and 24; Sundays, Jan. 4 and 25; 8:30 a.m.-5 p.m.

Independent Study: Arts and Culture of Mexico (Chicana/Chicano Studies)

Travel to Mexico City to visit cultural and historic monuments and nearby archaeological sites. Highlights include the National Museum of Anthropology, the Frida Kahlo Museum, Taxco and Teotihuacan. Pre-trip readings and lectures together with post-trip presentations by participants round out the travel study experience. Read more

Fee: $465, plus approximately $1,350 in travel expenses and an additional $75 for trip insurance (required).

 
NEW! Creative Thinking in Conflict Resolution (Business Management)

Taught by an alternative dispute resolution (ADR) professional, this interactive course provides creative strategies for managing, preventing and resolving workplace and personal conflicts constructively. Read more

NEW! Public Sector Management (PSM) Program
This fall, CSUN Extension, in collaboration with three other CSUN colleges*, launched a bachelor’s degree-completion program designed for mid-career professionals. All PSM classes are scheduled for weekends and/or evenings and are offered at convenient off-campus sites. The first cohort of students – primarily employees of the city and county of Santa Barbara – began this two-year, 60-unit program this month in Santa Barbara.
