Ron Sorenson, an instructor in The Tseng College's Fundraising and Institutional Advancement series and director of the Center for Community Health Improvement at Providence St. Joseph and Providence Holy Cross medical centers, recently received a "Beautiful People" award from Handicapped Artists, Performers and Partners, Inc. (HAPPI). The organization presents its awards to "individuals, organizations and corporations who have made caring for their community a personal matter by their philanthropic contributions of time, finances and dedication." In his work at the medical centers, Sorensen (a CSUN graduate) oversees programs that assist senior citizens, school children and former gang members or inmates wanting to make a fresh start.
