Do you participate in or expect to lead a lean management initiative for your organization? The Tseng College's upcoming series of courses on lean operations can prepare you for success in this critical area. You can learn more about the series – which will start this fall – at our introductory seminar, which will be held on campus from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 26. The $49 fee includes a CD-ROM containing information that will be useful for anyone who works in production or quality management. For information, call (818) 677-3916. To register, call (818) 677-2504.

New Interpretation and Translation Offerings

The Tseng College continues to expand its Interpretation and Translation offerings. New this fall is Armenian Criminal Court Terminology, the first course in a series created to prepare those fluent in Armenian and English for careers as court interpreters. For those who are bilingual in English and a language other than Armenian or Spanish, we are introducing Other-Than-Spanish (OTS) Interpretation. Also new is Comparative Structures of Spanish and English, the first in a new series of professional development courses in the field of translation.

To learn more about these programs, we encourage you to attend one or more of our free orientation meetings. The next Orientation and Testing of Potential Interpreters (all languages) will be held on campus on Saturday, Aug. 27, from 9 a.m. to noon. For those interested in working in the healthcare field, there is also an Orientation and Testing of Potential Healthcare Interpreters on Saturday, Aug. 20, from 10 a.m. to 12 noon.

If translation is your career objective, the Orientation and Testing of Potential Translators meeting will be on Saturday, Aug. 20, from 1 to 4 p.m.

NOTE: While these events are free*, advance registration by phone is required. Please call (818) 677-4769 or (800) 328-9900. * On-campus parking for all events is $4.
