Summer Extension Credit and Noncredit Courses

For Extended Learning students, the compressed format of Summer 2004 provides a great opportunity to take a course to satisfy a certificate program requirement, prepare for an examination or master new skills.

The Summer 2004 Extension and Noncredit Courses catalog is available on campus now. Extension and noncredit courses appear in the online catalog at the link provided above. Registration dates are the same as those for University courses.

Dedication of the Roland Tseng College of Extended Learning and the Tseng Family Wing of the Oviatt Library

Last fall, Roland Tseng – an entrepreneur who grew up in the San Fernando Valley – pledged to Cal State Northridge an exquisite collection of Chinese antiquities valued at up to $38 million. The gift, designated for public display and academic study, is the largest donation in the history of the California State University system. In recognition of this gift, the CSU Board of Trustees in January 2004 approved renaming the College of Extended Learning as The Roland Tseng College of Extended Learning and the west wing of Oviatt Library – where the prized art will be displayed – as the Tseng Family Wing.

The name changes will become “official”* at a dedication ceremony to be held on April 21, at which time the first public exhibition of the collection will open. For exhibit hours, call the Library at (818) 677-2271 or 677-2832.

*If you received the February Insider, you know that we were so excited about our new name that we announced it early. Note: the new, approved short version of our name is the "Tseng College” – but we won’t be using either version until April 21.
