Now Available: Winter Term Schedule of Classes

Cover of winter course catalog, which depicts palm trees and snowflakes.The schedule of classes for Winter Term 2007 is now available in print and online. Online registration for Winter Term university-credit courses begins Nov. 27. Mail-in/drop-box registration runs Dec. 11-18. In-person registration is Dec. 11-21. There is no telephone registration for Winter Term university-credit courses. Members of the community may take university Winter Term classes, so long as they meet course prerequisites.


Coming Soon: Application Deadline for Fundamentals of Business Administration

The second cohort* of the university-certificate program in Fundamentals of Business Administration, which is offered through The Tseng College in collaboration with the College of Business and Economics, will start on Feb. 1. The application deadline is Jan. 8. This planned sequence of evening courses provides participants with the fundamental knowledge and concepts needed for continued advanced study and admission into CSUN's MBA program.


Last Call for Applications: Second MPA Cohort in Santa Barbara

The Tseng College's second cohort-format* Master of Public Administration program to be offered in Santa Barbara will be starting on February 1. Applications are still being accepted. Individuals currently working in any sector–public, nonprofit or private–are welcome to apply. Cohort-format MPA programs for working professionals are also offered in Glendale, at the Los Angeles Department of Public Works in Alhambra and the Los Angeles Department of Social Services in the City of Industry. Applications Now Being Accepted for New Online MKM and IDAD Programs

Applications are now being accepted for two new Tseng College online, cohort-format* programs. Both the online Masters in Knowledge Management and the online university-certificate program in Instructional Design and Adult Development start on Aug. 23, 2007. The first review of early applications to the MKM program takes place on Feb. 28. The early-acceptance application deadline for the IDAD program is Jan. 15. The latest date for applying to either program (assuming any openings are still available) is May 31. For information on both programs, contact barb.frye@csun.edu or (818) 677-6406.

*Cohort participants enter and proceed through the program as a group. This format facilitates learning because each course builds on those that preceded. It also gives participants a strong support network of faculty and fellow students who come to know one another well.


Coming Soon: New CEU Tutorial for Speech-Language Pathologists

The second course in The Tseng College's series of online, on-demand self-study tutorials for professional speech-language pathologists–"Promoting Social-Emotional Communication and Intellectual Development: Relationship-Based Intervention for Young Children with Autism and Other Social-Communication Disorders"–will be launched this spring. The new self-study tutorial earns .5 continuing education units (CEUs) for professional development and maintaining certification. The first offering in the series–"Tools to Control Stuttering," introduced in January 2006–earns .3 CEUs. The Tseng College's CEU offerings for speech-language pathologists are developed in collaboration with the Department of Communication Disorders and Sciences in CSUN's College of Health and Human Development. Starting Early January: More Lean Operations Courses

Two courses in the Lean Operations certificate program will be starting in January: Lean Mapping and 5S (Jan. 9-March 6) and Standard Work, Lean Teams, Lean Design and Accounting (Jan. 10-March 7). For additional information, contact Carla Bryant at (818) 677-3922 or Carla.bryant@csun.edu.


Last Chance This Year: U.S. Constitution Exam Prep and Test

If you need to satisfy the "U.S. Constitution requirement" for your teaching credential, you can do so on Dec. 9 with The Tseng College's one-day U.S. Constitution Exam Prep course, which concludes with the actual exam.* For additional information, contact Simin Bahmanyar at Simin.bahmanyar.edu or (818) 677-2465.

* This course does not fulfill the "U.S. Constitution Requirement" for a bachelor's degree. (See online course information for details.)


Thanksgiving Campus Closure
