(July 10, 2017) - CSUN welcome international students and visitors taking short-term programs this Summer! For most students, Summer means relaxing at the beach or getting away from school books. But visiting groups arriving this week will use the Summer to explore CSUN academics.
The English Language and Cultural Experience Program gives international university students a chance to learn and practice English. “This is a three-week program, and they get to take field trips,” said Yukiko Bryant, manager of student life for International Programs and Partnerships. That means fun excursions around Southern California, in addition to classroom study. “They will learn about American, California and Los Angeles culture, and will get to use real-life English.”
For those attending the International Business School of São Paulo, Brazil, Summer turns into a learning adventure. They’ll take a three-week Executive Certificate program in Communication, Design & Innovation; and Design Thinking & Innovation. But they won’t have to settle for dry textbook readings. Instead, they’ll launch teams with project managers and tackle real-world business challenges. A visit to Warner Bros. Studios will give them a look at creativity in action. A field trip to La Kretz Innovation Campus in downtown Los Angeles will provide a look at collaboration among entrepreneurs, engineers, scientists, and policymakers.
Traveling all the way from China, higher education administrators from Shanghai Normal University will explore the American university system. The Professional Development and Cultural Enrichment Program will show them American approaches to teaching, university structure and the impact of American culture. Their visit started with a tour of the Oviatt Library and the campus, and includes trips around the Greater Los Angeles area.
Welcome to all!
