Program Benefits

Those who complete the GCBA program will be able to:

  • Explain and describe the elements of the business planning process, including goals, objectives, strategies, implementation and performance outcome measurements;
  • Demonstrate how legal and ethical processes and rules apply to various types of businesses, their operations, and their management practices;
  • Appraise financial management theories, concepts, analyses and techniques and apply them to practical business situations;
  • Evaluate and describe relevant marketing and management applications from a business strategic-planning perspective;
  • Integrate the functional areas of business into specific and applicable business plans;
  • Assess and apply relevant economic analyses, such as demand, production and costs, to various types of businesses and their general operations; and
  • Use technology in making sound financial and managerial decisions.

The GCBA program also offers preparation for entry into an accredited MBA program for those who do not have a business degree.

Convenient Scheduling

The format and scheduling of the GCBA program is designed to be convenient for busy adults. Participants proceed through the program in a cohort (group) format, which means that all successful applicants will begin their course of study at the same time and move together through the designated course sequence.

Since all participants in a cohort take the same classes in sequence, the knowledge gained in one course can be built upon in those that follow. Cohort participants share a supportive, on-going learning community and also enjoy the opportunity of networking together as a cohesive group with common career goals and life experiences.

The GCBA International Cohort
An international GCBA program cohort is also available for those for whom English is not their primary language and who have a TOEFL or IELTS score below the minimum required for admission to graduate study at CSUN. For more information on the international program, click here.

The GCBA Program Prepares Students for the Master of Business Administration (MBA)

Most accredited MBA programs require foundational coursework in core business disciplines. At CSUN, this coursework may be satisfied by a degree in business or equivalent coursework. Successful completion of the GCBA program satisfies the requirement for foundational courses for CSUN’s MBA program.
