Applying to the GCBA Program

Because the GCBA program is a graduate credit-certificate program, the course work, grades, and certificate award will become a part of the participant’s permanent academic record for post-baccalaureate study at California State University, Northridge (CSUN).

Applicants must submit the following 4 items :

Online (1 item):

1. Online application, including: 1) a 500-word statement describing why the applicant is interested in the GCBA certificate and how enrollment in this program will contribute to his/her growth and success. 2) the provision of contact information of three people who can recommend you to the GCBA program.
By Email (1 item):

2. Applicant’s resumé

To submit documents by email, please send ONE email with the attached required document (.doc or .rtf format) to GCBAapplications@csun.edu. Specify only your name, as it appears on your online application, in the subject line of your email.
By Regular Mail (2 items):

All items sent by regular mail must be postmarked by the application deadline date.

3. Original or certified copies of all official academic records/transcripts (CSUN alumni need to submit CSUN transcripts)

4. Application fee of $55 (a nonrefundable check payable to “CSUN”)

To be admitted to the GCBA Program, applicants must possess:

  1. At least one year of suitable professional work experience
  2. A Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university
  3. No less than a 2.5 GPA in the last 60 semester/90 quarter academic units attempted, independent of when the bachelor’s degree was granted. The entire academic term in which the 60-90 units began will be used in this calculation. Postgraduate course work is included in the calculation only if it consists of standard academic offerings at the upper-division level (third year/junior level or above). Nonstandard credit offerings (professional training, CEU courses, non-degree or other professional credit) are not included in the calculation. Participants with less than a 2.5 GPA will not be considered for the program.

Those who do not meet the TOEFL score minimum requirements do not qualify for direct admission to the GCBA program. However, those with a TOEFL score below 213 (CBT), 550 (PBT), 79 (IBT) or IELTS score below 6.0 are eligible to enroll for this program via the special pathway for international applicants. This program includes intensive English language and preparation for study at an American university. Visit the international pathway page for details.

 


Budget News:
All CSUN self-support programs (including master’s degrees, baccalaureate degree completion, credit certificate programs, and online degrees) offered through CSUN's Tseng College, will remain open for applications and admission for the Spring and Fall 2010 semesters. Winter session and Open University courses also will be available.
