Applying to the Program

Who Can Apply?

You can apply to enter the Distance Learning program if you:

  1. Have 30 hours as a post-baccalaureate student or as part of bachelor's degree studies in Communication Disorders.
  2. Can satisfy traditional admissions requirements, including review of transcripts, successful completion of the GRE or MAT, letters of reference, and a letter of intent.
  3. Have a late-model PC, and Internet connection, a television, VCR and fax capability.
Cohort 1 Graduates
Additional Requirements:
    1. Have a baccalaureate degree from an accredited university or college.
    2. Have been in good standing at the last institution attended.
    3. Have at least a 2.5 grade point average in the last 60 semester units attempted.
    4. Complete 30 units of approved undergraduate courses in Communicative Disorders.
    5. Earn a passing score on the CSU Upper Division Writing Proficiency Exam. If this examination has not been taken, it may be taken the first semester of matriculation in graduate school.
    6. Make arrangements with a pediatric clinical site after admission to the program. The site may be an employment or volunteer site. The site must sign a contract with the university. The contract states that a supervisor who is qualified will be provided by the work site. The supervisor will be offered a stipend, optional continuing education courses, and adjunct professor status at the university.
    7. Meet the computer hardware and software requirements.

How To Apply:

Step 1.Apply online with the new Easy App (completes the requirement for both the University application and the CDS department application).

Step 2. Submit Official Transcripts via mail, to Kelly Little/CSUN/18111 Nordhoff Street, Northridge, CA 91330 – 8343.

Step 3. Submit hard copies of the following documents to the CDS Department, CSUN, 18111 Nordhoff Street, Northridge, CA 91330-8279:

    1. Unofficial Transcripts.
    2. Letter of Intent
    3. Three completed Reference Forms (may also be mailed to department by originator of the form)
    4. Official GRE or MAT Scores
    5. UDWPE Test Results (if indicated).
