Summer English Experience and Intensive TOEFL Preparation

Learning English at an American university in Los Angeles, California is a great way to spend your vacation! This summer, the Intensive English Program at California State University, Northridge is hosting an exciting Summer English Experience and Intensive TOEFL Preparation. Students from all countries are invited! Come SEE for yourself what adventure is waiting for you in beautiful Southern California.

California State University, Northridge (CSUN) is located in northern Los Angeles, less than 30 minutes from Hollywood, Beverly Hills, Universal Studios, Santa Monica and Pacific Ocean beaches. Northridge is a comfortable residential community in the suburbs of Los Angeles. CSUN is home to more than 35,000 students from 96 countries, making the university one of the 50 largest in the U.S.A.

Dates and Costs

We offer two exciting programs: a 3-week Summer English Experience and a 3-week Intensive TOEFL Preparation Program. You can even take both programs with some time in between to SEE California on your own.

Summer English Experience : June 8 - June 26 or July 13 - July 31

Intensive TOEFL Preparation: June 8 - June 26 or July 13 - July 31

Cost for each program: $1980 (includes tuition and housing)

We also offer an 8-week Summer IEP Academic Program. Go to our website for more information: tsengcollege.csun.edu/iep. Note the 8 week program requires a F-1 Visa.

The Summer English Experience

English language and culture classes Monday through Friday allow students to develop and improve English language skills while learning about American culture.

Intensive TOEFL Preparation

TOEFL iBT preparation classes Monday through Friday focus on improving skills in all four sections of the TOEFL iBT and learning test taking strategies that guarantee success on the exam.

Activities and Trips

Fun and exciting activities on or near campus and trips to locations such as Santa Monica, Disneyland, Universal Studios, etc. help students learn about and explore life in Southern California.

Airport Arrival Assistance

IEP staff will meet you at Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) airport and assist you with transportation to the university. Email: iepcsunhousing@csun.edu if you have questions about airport pick-up or housing.

Campus Housing

Residence in apartment-style housing on campus.
All rooms contain beds, desks, living and dining area furniture, a microwave, and a refrigerator. A communal kitchen is available on each floor. Email: iepcsunhousing@csun.edu if you have questions about airport pick-up or housing.

Certificate of Participation

Students who successfully complete the Summer English Experience and/or Intensive TOEFL Preparation will receive a certificate of participation

Optional Activity Calendar

All students will have the option of participating in some of the following fun activities: Pool Parties, Movie Nights, Shopping Trips, Los Angeles Tour, Disneyland, Universal Studios, etc. Additional costs apply.

To apply for the 3-week session, please mail or fax to the Intensive English Program office:

Once the IEP receives your completed application, you will be sent your acceptance materials. Then you must apply for your visa at the American Embassy closest to your home. You should apply for your visa as soon as you receive your acceptance materials.
